GUEST SPEAKERS

Robert (Bruce) Leggett has been President and CEO of New West Energy Group since its founding in 2014. His petroleum engineering career began with Amoco in 1980 and continued with British Petroleum after the two firms merged in 1998. He has worked with various technical and leadership roles living in Egypt, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, Russia, Argentina and Iraq for about 19 years. Leggett studied geological and petroleum engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he earned a bachelor's degree.

In 2016, he launched City Centre Coffee with the purpose of using 100% of its profits to support the world's neediest and most abused people. City Centre Coffee imports high-quality specialty coffees from unique and exotic locations whose farmers and their communities are in need of development support. Fory Charitable Trust and the work they are doing for Russian children is supported by City Centre Coffee.

Lieutenant Commander Dan Crenshaw (retired) is a native Houstonian and a proud 6th generation Texan. His father's career in the Texas oil and gas industry caused the family to live all over the world. Dan knew he wanted to serve his country with the most elite fighting force in history: the U.S. Navy SEALs. Dan graduated from Tufts University in 2006 and earned his Naval officer commission through Navy ROTC there. After graduating from SEAL training in Coronado, CA, Dan deployed to Fallujah, Iraq to join SEAL Team Three, his first of five deployments overseas. During his third deployment, Dan was hit by an IED blast during a mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Dan lost his right eye and his left eye was badly damaged. After several difficult surgeries, Dan eventually regained sight in his left eye, a miracle according to the head surgeon. Dan deployed twice more, first back to the Middle East in 2014 and then to South Korea in 2016. Dan was medically retired in September of 2016, after ten years in the SEAL Teams. He left the service with two Bronze Stars (one with Valor), the Purple Heart, and the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, among many other recognitions. He completed his Master's in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Dan has seen firsthand the effect of war on children.
